(This is a 3-minute read)
This St. Patrick’s Day, we wanted to make sure you knew there was more to it than all things green. Don’t forget the orange! As in the orange SilkBalance bottle.
Some customers refer to it as liquid gold – you know, like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Only instead of searching for green four leaf clovers and building leprechaun traps for your kids (we’ve done this many times) this March 17, we want all hot tub owners to focus on the benefits that have been found inside orange SilkBalance bottles for more than a decade.
Actually, orange has a much longer history than spa users realize and have come to enjoy for the past 12 years of SilkBalance. Orange plays an important part in Irish lore, but we will spare you a long, boring 17th century history lesson about William of Orange and King James II and just give you the edited version of Ireland’s flag symbolism. Let’s have some fun and splash right into this week’s St. Patrick’s Day blog: how the Green/White/Orange colors of the Irish flag can bring you ongoing good luck if you are a hot tub owner.
THE MEANING OF IRELAND’s FLAG
GREEN — Signifies Irish Catholics and the republican cause
ORANGE — Stands for Irish Protestants
WHITE — Represents the hope for peace between both groups
WHAT IRELAND’s FLAG MEANS TO HOT TUB OWNERS
GREEN: As in why my spa water is green. Most often it is caused by an alkalinity level that is too high. This is because high alkalinity reduces the effectiveness and the efficiency of the sanitizer that you add to your spa water.
Green water in your hot tub could also be a result of high metal content, possible algae blooms when your sanitizer level is not in the EPA recommended ranges and water levels that are not balanced inline with where they should be. In order to combat green hot tub water, first check to make sure your Alkalinity is not too high. If you use “well water” or are in an area where your source water has a high metal content, try using a pre-filter hose attachment that will remove the unwanted metals prior to filling up your spa. Once your hot tub is full, be sure to maintain these proper parameters that are easily measured with simple test strips: pH 7.2 to 7.6, Total Alkalinity 80 to 120 ppm, Total Hardness 100 to 250 ppm, Salt Systems should read 3 to 5 ppm of Free Chlorine, traditional Chlorine 3 to 5 ppm or Bromine 4 to 6 ppm. Once your spa water levels are within these acceptable recommended ranges, then a once weekly addition of SilkBalance liquid or SilkBalance Gems will help keep your water in the right ranges, crystal clear and odor free.
ORANGE: As in the award-winning, most-trusted, scientifically proven, patented formula and customer approved orange SilkBalance bottle.
